TEHRAN - Following a highly successful run in Beijing, Iran’s prestigious loan exhibit “Glory of Ancient Persia” has now opened in Shanghai to widespread acclaim.

The exhibition, which began its Shanghai turn on Thursday, has quickly become a focal point for cultural enthusiasts. On its opening day, the event witnessed a remarkable turnout, with visitors eager to explore the rich history and culture of ancient Persia.

“The Glory of Ancient Persia” features artifacts from more than 60 archaeological sites across Iran, including treasures from the National Museum of Iran, Rasht, Gorgan, and the Persepolis Museum. Additionally, the exhibition includes items related to Persian culture from the Shanghai Museum and two provincial museums in China, further enriching the display.

Organized by Iran’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts in close collaboration with the Chinese government, this major cultural event showcases over 280 historical artifacts from Iran.

The exhibition is intended to introduce the grandeur of ancient Persian culture to the Chinese public and to encourage tourism to Iran. With free admission, it is expected to attract large numbers of visitors until it concludes on October 7.

The Islamic Republic has set its sights on attracting millions of Chinese nationals as part of its strategy to boost the tourism industry. The move is part of Iran’s broader efforts to diversify its tourism market and reduce its dependency on traditional sources of income.
