CIPCC holds lecture on China development studies & media exchange

BEIJING- China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC) held a lecture in English on China Development Studies and Media Exchange titled “From Ancient DIBAO to Modern China Daily: The Milestones of Chinese Media History” on Wednesday.

The lecture was given by Dr. Zhong Xin, professor of the School of Journalism and Communication, Renmin University of China.

At the end of her very comprehensive and informative lecture, Professor Zhong mentioned the conclusion of her speech as:

* It can be concluded that Chinese media had explored its own understanding of media functions and developed its own traditions based on situation and demand of particular times while the impact of western media and former soviet union media was clear.

* The important traditions of Chinese media might be well noted:

*  Domestic communication means to promote government-people communication and understanding; international communication means to promote China-world communication and understanding

* Education, advocacy and mobilization are important roles of Chinese media while supervision role (IT) was also practiced.

Professor Zhong Xin is also the deputy director of Public Diplomacy Research Center, the founding director of International Journalism Master Program, the director of International Journalists Exchange Programs, RUC. Her research interests include international communication, public diplomacy, broadcast journalism and crisis communication. She has published over 10 books and over 200 research articles including a few award winning articles. She believes that international cooperation makes a better world and each of us can make contribution.

China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC), under the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA), has initiated a program to build a platform for the media from countries around the world, especially developing countries, to observe China and study development in this country.

In each edition of the program, journalists from all around the world gather together to get familiar with the modern China and exchange their experiences in the field of journalism.

In 2024 edition of the program, started in late February, over 100 journalists from more than 90 countries are participating.

During their stay in China, the journalists have attended many lectures and press conferences arranged by the CIPCC.
