Iran-U.S. trade rises 72% in 4 months

TEHRAN - The official data of the United States show that the country’s trade with the Islamic Republic of Iran has increased by 72 percent in the first four months of this year.

According to IRNA, the U.S. Bureau of Statistics announced in its latest report that the trade exchange with Iran reached $30.6 million in the first four months of 2024, registering an increase of 72 percent compared to the same period last year.

Based on the mentioned data, the trade between the two countries stood at $17.8 million during January-April 2023.

In the mentioned period, Iran’s exports to the U.S. grew 13 times and reached $4.1 million from $300,000 in the previous year’s corresponding period.

The U.S. exports to Iran also increased by 51 percent and reached $26.5 million.

The growth in Iran-U.S. trade in the first four months of 2024 followed a steady rise in trade exchanged between the two sides in the previous year which saw eight percent growth and reached $61.2 million.

The amount of trade between Iran and the U.S. is not significant compared to the total trade of the two countries with the rest of the world. Iran ranks 152 among the export destinations of the United States.
