Italian embassy in Tehran celebrates Republic Day
TEHRAN - The Italian embassy in Tehran celebrated Republic Day (Festa della Repubblica) on June 2 at the embassy’s historic residence in northern Tehran.
Ambassador Paola Amadei, who had started his diplomatic mission in Iran in March 2024, hosted the celebration attended by more than 500 guests.
The invitees were from the small but active community of Italians, including from the Italian School “Pietro della valle”, Iranian officials, members of the Iranian civil society, media persons, investors and entrepreneurs, cultural figures, Tehran-based foreign diplomats, and representatives of international organizations in Iran.
First, a video message of Antonio Tajani, The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was screened for the Italian community in Iran.
Then Ambassador Paola Amadei started her speech with a focus on fundamental principles of the Constitution of the Italian Republic, especially freedom and equality for all people regardless of their gender, race, language, religion, or political views. The ambassador said that upholding these values will prevent violence.
She said Italy, which currently holds the rotating presidency of the Group of Seven (G7), backs multilateralism for pursuing peace in the Middle East and other parts of the world based on the principles set by the European Union.
The ambassador also pointed to ties between Iran and Italy and stated that Italy pursues dialogue with Iran even on the most important contentious issues.
The guests also viewed the design works of artists such as Gianfranco Frattini, Michele de Lucchi, Enzo Mari exhibited at the residence’s historic garden.
