IRCS calls on ICRC, IFRC to help stop violations of intl. humanitarian law in Gaza
TEHRAN –The head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), Pirhossein Kolivand, has asked the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), to use their strength and capacities to end the violations of international humanitarian law by the occupiers in Gaza.
Writing letters to the President of ICRC, Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, the President of IFRC, Kate Forbes, and the other presidents of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the official urges them to condemn the brutal acts of the Zionist regime in Gaza and stand on the right side of the history, the IRCS website reported.
Lauding their efforts so far, Kolivand asked them to note the attached message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, which has addressed the conscientious students in the United States of America for defending oppressed Palestinians as well as expressing sympathy & solidarity with the people in Gaza while condemning the inhumane measures of the Zionist occupation regime.
“Concerning the ongoing heinous crimes of Israel in Gaza, the Iranian Red Crescent Society urges you to stand on the right side of history, oppose the brutal acts of the Zionist regime, and use all your power to prevent further violations of international humanitarian law by the occupiers.
Leader’s letter to U.S. students
Ayatollah Khamenei has addressed a letter to pro-Palestinian students across the United States, hailing their struggle and considering them to be part of the global resistance movement.
“I am writing this letter to the young people whose awakened conscience has moved them to defend the oppressed women and children of Gaza,” reads the letter.
Dear university students in the United States of America, this message is an expression of our empathy and solidarity with you. As the page of history is turning, you are standing on the right side of it.
You have now formed a branch of the Resistance Front and have begun an honorable struggle in the face of your government's ruthless pressure—a government that openly supports the usurper and brutal Zionist regime.
The greater Resistance Front which shares the same understandings and feelings that you have today, has been engaged in the same struggle for many years in a place far from you.
The goal of this struggle is to put an end to the blatant oppression that the brutal Zionist terrorist network has inflicted on the Palestinian nation for many years. After seizing their country, the Zionist regime has subjected them to the harshest of pressures and tortures.
The apartheid Zionist regime's genocide today is the continuation of extremely oppressive behavior that has been going on for decades. Palestine is an independent land with a long history. It is a nation comprised of Muslims, Christians, and Jews.
