Iran imports over 1.3m cellphones in two months
TEHRAN - The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) said 1,353,786 cellphone handsets, valued at $340.545 million, were imported into the country in the first two months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20–May 20), IRNA reported.
In this period, more than one million mobile handsets were imported through the commercial method while 62,000 of the cellphone handsets were imported by passengers, it reported.
According to IRICA, the cell phones imported by passengers in this period registered a 37 percent and 42 percent reduction in volume and value, respectively.
Back on December 30, the president of IRICA said that more than 10 million cellphone handsets, valued at $2.2 billion, had been imported in the first nine months of that year, which started in March 2023.
