TEHRAN – Persepolis football team defender Giorgi Gvelesiani is fit to accompany his team in the crucial match against Shams Azar.

Persepolis are scheduled to play Shams Azar in Qazvin in the penultimate match of 2023/24 Iran’s Persian Gulf Pro League (PGPL) Tuesday night.

The center back was absent in the match against struggling Esteghlal Khuzestan, where Persepolis came from three goals down to win the match 4-3.

Gvelesiani’s absence against Shams Azar could be a big blow to Persepolis since the team need a win to remain the top title contenders.

The 33-year-old Georgian international defender has been recently invited to his national team for the Euro 2024.
