Iran acting FM discusses bilateral relations with Lavrov
TEHRAN - Ali Bagheri Kani, the acting Foreign Minister of Iran, and Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, held a phone call on Saturday, discussing the strengthening of cooperations.
Bagheri announced that this phone consultation with Lavrov aimed at improving "bilateral, regional, and international cooperation."
The acting Foreign Minister of Iran wrote in a post on the social network X: "We reviewed bilateral programs together with the Russian side. Cooperation on all levels is improving. The path of multilateralism is the strategic choice for Iran and Russia to shape a just world where every actor can play a role based on their capacity."
During a visit to the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, in late May, Bagheri noted that "the leaders of Iran and Russia have turned the threat of sanctions into a new opportunity for cooperation, not only between Iran and Russia but also with the countries of the region.
Bagheri meets with Tunisian, Sudanese FMs along with Cuban representative
Hussein Awad, the Foreign Minister of Sudan, and Nabil Ammar, the Foreign Minister of Tunisia, embarked on a journey to Tehran to pay their respects at the funeral procession honoring the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions who lost their lives in a tragic helicopter crash on Sunday.
The two ministers also engaged in bilateral discussions with Bagheri Kani on Saturday.
The meeting marked a pivotal moment in diplomatic relations, as both nations extended their condolences and reaffirm their commitment to solidarity in the face of adversity.
Discussions also touched upon avenues for enhanced cooperation and mutual support, underscoring the enduring bonds between Sudan, Tunisia, and Iran.
Meanwhile, Pedro Pedroso, the senior advisor and special envoy to the President of Cuba, also embarked on the journey to Tehran on Saturday to participate in the somber ceremonies commemorating the late Iranian officials. His afternoon meeting on the same day, with Bagheri Kani, echoed similar sentiments of solidarity and cooperation.
