Assange allowed to appeal extradition to U.S.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been given permission to appeal against an extradition case that would see him deported to the United States after arguing at a British High Court that he might not be able to rely on his right to free speech in America.
Washington has long tried to bring Assange, who exposed U.S. war crimes, to its territory. Critics accuse the U.S. of double standards arguing the journalist was simply doing his job.
Assange was first arrested in Britain in 2010. Since then, he has been variously under house arrest, holed up in Ecuador's embassy in London for seven years and, since 2019, held at a notorious top security British jail.
