Over 6,500 villages, 50 towns connected to national gas network in 2.5 years
TEHRAN – The head of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said 6,500 hard-to-reach villages and 50 towns have been connected to the national gas network over the past 2.5 years since the 13th administration took office.
According to Mjaid Chegeni, over 98.5 percent of families in urban areas are currently using natural gas through the national network, Shana reported.
During the period, 836,042 gas service lines have been installed in urban and rural areas, he continued, putting the number of natural gas service subscribers added during the 2.5-year period at 2,277,342.
Chegeni noted that 1,472 kilometers of new gas transmission pipelines have been installed and five gas compressor stations have been added to the national network, increasing their total number to 91.
According to the official, 16 more power plants receiving gas have been added since the incumbent government took over in August 2021, increasing the total number to 102.
He also said 3,195 more industrial units have been supplied with gas during the 30-month period, concluding the number of industrial consumers has soared to 32,518.
