Gaza’s resistance and faith source of pride for Islamic world: envoy
TEHRAN - Iran's Ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadeq, has hailed the Palestinian people’s resolute faith and resistance against the Israeli regime as a source of pride and honor for the Islamic world.
The official made the remarks during a meeting with members of the Supreme Council of the Islamic Denominations Assembly in Baghdad. Al-Sadeq said the Zionist regime has reached total failure in the besieged Gaza Strip, where it has been trying to “eradicate Hamas” for almost 8 months.
The ambassador also expressed satisfaction with the holding of a religious conference in Iraq and emphasized its importance in promoting unity among Muslims. “We need to create a united front against our mutual enemy,” he stated.
Elsewhere in his comments, Al-Sadeq praised the current Iraqi government for its popularity among the people, attributing it to its efforts in addressing sectarian conflicts, political crises, and social issues. He also highlighted the strong relations between Iran and Iraq, which he said are based on three principles: Respect for Iraq's territorial integrity and Iran's support for its unity, defence cooperation, as exemplified by Iran's assistance in defeating ISIS and last but not least, economic, scientific, and cultural cooperation.
The envoy emphasized the importance of developing these relations to secure the interests of both countries. He also expressed optimism about the future of Iraq, noting the government's efforts to address challenges and promote peace and prosperity.
