In this period, more than 76,000 tons of orange and over 25,000 tons of tangerine were exported from Mazandaran province, Head of Agricultural Organization of Mazandaran province Babak Momeni stated.
He went on to say that more than 101,000 tons of citrus fruits and over 24,000 tons of kiwi fruit were exported from this northern province.
Mo’meni noted that 10,256 tons of kiwi fruit were exported from Mazandaran province to India, according to Mehr news agency.
More than 48,000 tons of orange were exported from this province last year (ended March 19, 2024), he said, adding that over 13,000 tons of tangerine were also exported from this northern province overseas in this period.
More than $6.2 billion worth of agricultural products have been exported from Iran during the last calendar Iranian year to late March, an official said, citing customs data.
Hamed Najafi Alamdarlou, the deputy director for planning and economic affairs of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad (MAJ), said on Sunday that Iran’s exports of agricultural products in the year under study are some $1 billion more than that reported a year ago.
He also added that the country’s trade balance regarding the exchanges of agricultural products is up $2 billion compared to that of the preceding year.
The official attributed the hike in Iran’s exports of agricultural items to an increase in production, high quality of the products, and increased demand for Iranian products at target markets.
