Mahshahr arranges events to cherish Persian Gulf national day
TEHRAN – Situated in the northwestern part of the Persian Gulf, the port city of Mahshahr is set to hold various cultural events and festivities to mark the Persian Gulf national day on April 29.
On Sunday, Khuzestan’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts director-general announced that measures are in place to commemorate Persian Gulf Day provincewide.
Pointing to the Bandar-e Mahshahr as one of the key hubs that are to hold national day events, Mohammad-Hossein Arastouzadeh revealed that the festivals would be participated by several regional and local officials.
Regarding the timeline of the planned events, the director-general outlined that an array of activities is arranged to take place from April 26 to May 2, coinciding with the Persian Gulf national day.
The event is a comprehensive effort to highlight the Persian Gulf’s cultural and historical values, Arastouzadeh noted.
Detailing the events, the official stated that one of the main attractions of the festival is the exhibition of historical maps and documents of the Persian Gulf, showcasing the area's rich heritage.
Moreover, a local doll exhibition titled “Dagesht” featuring indigenous dolls from various Iranian ethnic groups will be held at Ferdowsi Cultural House in Bandar-e Mahshahr from April 29 to May 2, according to the director-general.
Additionally, an academic conference on the anthropology of the Persian Gulf is slated to further scholarly discourse on regional cultures, the official brought to light.
The official emphasized the importance of such events in enhancing public awareness of the cultural and natural values of the Persian Gulf.
“The festival also includes a maritime parade featuring 150 light and medium vessels in the open waters of the Persian Gulf,” Arastouzadeh further explained. “Underscoring the maritime prowess and readiness in the region.”
The director-general also outlined that a human chain formation on the waters of the Persian Gulf by local students is planned, symbolizing unity and communal respect for the Gulf's heritage.
“These extensive festivities not only commemorate Persian Gulf national day,” the official winded up. “But also serve as vibrant platforms to educate and remind the public of the significant historical and cultural heritage of the Persian Gulf, crucial for national pride and regional identity.”
April 29th, known as the Persian Gulf National Day, signals a landmark cultural heritage of the ancient land and its unwavering commitment to protecting its territorial integrity.
It is a reminder that the country is steadfast in protecting its interests and will continue to stand firm against any threats to its sovereignty.
