Iran to respond "more severely" if Israel reacts to embassy attack retaliation
TEHRAN - Iran has warned Israel against reacting to the drone and missile attacks that targeted occupied territories on Saturday night in response to Israel's strike on Iran's embassy in Damascus.
In a post on X, Iran's permanent mission to the United Nations said the country's attacks against Israeli positions were legal, adding that it can now see the situation as resolved.
"Conducted on the strength of Article 51 of the UN Charter pertaining to legitimate defense, Iran’s military action was in response to the Zionist regime’s aggression against our diplomatic premises in Damascus. The matter can be deemed concluded. However, should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably more severe," the statement said.
Iran also asked the U.S. to refrain from involvement. "It is a conflict between Iran and the rogue Israeli regime, from which the U.S. MUST STAY AWAY!"
Tehran has begun a large-scale operation against Israel by firing multiple waves of drones and missiles at the occupied territories. Reports suggest resistance forces in other regional countries have joined Iran in its retaliation by launching more projectiles at Israeli positions.
The regime assassinated 7 high-ranking military officials in a missile strike on Iran's embassy in the Syrian capital on April 1.
Iranians have taken to the streets in various cities across the country to thank the armed forces for what they deemed "the long-awaited response" to Israeli aggressions.
Further information shows that for the first time in the past six months, the regime has stopped its attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip to deal with the barrage of drones and missiles coming from the Iranian territory.
