Kermanshah ready to host Eid al-Fitr travelers
TEHRAN – As one of the six provinces boasting adequate accommodation facilities according to Iran’s Travel Services Headquarters, Kermanshah is ready to host Eid al-Fitr holidaymakers.
Talking to ISNA, Kermanshah’s deputy tourism chief pointed to a high preparedness level across the province in terms of hosting travelers throughout the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holidays.
Vahid Amiri anticipated the influx of travelers during the approaching holidays, outlining that considering the convergence of spring holidays and the holy month of Ramadan, the country experienced a decreasing trend in Nowruz travels, as a result, the Eid al-Fitr holidays are believed to face a surge in the number of holidaymakers.
The official also mentioned the latest announcement of National Travel Services Headquarters which introduced six provinces including Hamedan, Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari, Kermanshah, Kurdistan, Ilam, Kohgiluyeh-Boyerahmad and Lorestan as recommended travel destinations for the Eid al-Fitr holidays.
Regarding the announcement, Amiri emphasized expecting a considerable volume of tourists to enter the province during these days.
Assuring that the accommodation centers of the province will be ready to host the tourists during this time, the deputy of tourism highlighted the 5000-bed capacities providing services.
Amiri further figured up the official accommodation centers of the province, featuring hotels, guesthouses, and eco-lodges.
“The occupancy rate of accommodation centers in the province reached about 97% during Nowruz this year,” the official noted, “which is estimated to be around 85% for the Eid al-Fitr holidays.”
Ponting to the prediction of rain and temperature drop within the province in the next few days, Amiri assured that some emergency accommodation centers such as sports halls have also been prepared to guide travelers from park camps to these sports facilities in case of rainfall."
"Since natural attractions were highly favored by tourists during this year's Nowruz travels,” the deputy of tourism stated, “efforts are being made to provide suitable services to the Eid al-Fitr holidaymakers in these areas."
Furthermore, the official emphasized that proper inspections of tourist facilities of the province such as accommodation centers, hospitality venues, and roadside facilities will continue during the upcoming holidays, mentioning that supervision over the tourist facilities of the province was carried out during Nowruz, and this issue led to quality services to tourists.
According to the official, all member organizations of the province's Travel Services Headquarters will be on duty during the Eid al-Fitr holidays, just like during Nowruz, to provide services to tourists.
Kermanshah, formerly Bakhtaran, the capital of Kermanshah province, was founded in the 4th century CE by Bahram IV of the Sasanian dynasty. Conquered by the Arabs in 640, the town was called Qirmasin (Qirmashin). Under the Seljuk rule in the 11th century, it was the chief town of Kordestan. The Safavids (ruled 1501–1736) fortified the town, and the Qajars repulsed an attack by the Turks during Fath Ali Shah’s rule (1797–1834). Occupied by the Turkish army in 1915 during World War I, it was evacuated in 1917. The construction of a road in the 1950s over the age-old Khorasan track added considerably to the importance of the city.
