TEHRAN – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman has strongly condemned the atrocious assault by the Zionist military on the workers of World Central Kitchen.

The United States-based aid group, World Central Kitchen (WCK), confirmed on Tuesday that its staff members were killed in a “targeted attack” by the Israeli military. The deceased hailed from Palestine, Australia, Poland, the United Kingdom, as well as a U.S.-Canada citizen.

“The team from WCK, entrusted with the crucial task of distributing food aid in the Gaza Strip, has fallen victim to a troubling act of aggression that demands immediate global condemnation,” Nasser Kanaani wrote in a social media post on Tuesday.

Expressing heartfelt condolences and unwavering solidarity with the families of the seven victims who tragically lost their lives in this heinous attack, Kanaani emphasized the diverse nationalities represented among the victims, underscoring the far-reaching impact of this atrocity.

Furthermore, Kanaani underscored that this appalling incident serves as yet another stark reminder of the relentless agenda pursued by the Zionist regime, which seeks to perpetuate suffering by instigating hunger, fostering famine, and orchestrating targeted killings of innocent civilians. He wrote, “The regime's deliberate targeting of international relief teams, humanitarian organizations, and grassroots community groups underscores a callous disregard for fundamental humanitarian principles and international law.”

“Such a reprehensible and inhumane approach underscores the Zionist regime's flagrant disregard for established international norms, regulations, and universal ethical standards, further exacerbating global outrage and indignation,” Kanaani further asserted.

The spokesman emphasized the urgent need for concerted international action to hold the perpetrators accountable and to stand unequivocally in support of the oppressed Palestinian people.

WCK stated that the attack occurred as its staff were delivering food from its latest shipment to Gaza, where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have been pushed to the brink of famine by Israel’s offensive.

Erin Gore, the CEO of the charity, remarked, “This is not only an attack against WCK, this is an attack on humanitarian organizations showing up in the most dire of situations where food is being used as a weapon of war. This is unforgivable.”
