TEHRAN - As the Nowruz festivities [celebration of the Persian New Year] draw near, Hamedan is gearing up for an array of cultural, tourism, and handicraft events in the interest of hosting holidaymakers in the best possible way.

According to the provincial tourism chief, a total of 128 Nowruz-related programs are scheduled to take place in the capital city of Hamedan, with an additional 78 events planned in other parts of the west-central province.

Mohsen Masoum-Alizadeh outlined that these events, running from March 15 to April 13, aim to celebrate the Persian New Year while also respecting the traditions of the holy month of Ramadan.

“The programs will encompass a variety of activities,” the official stated, “arranged to take place adjacent to the historical sites and touristic spots.”

In anticipation of the influx of visitors during the holiday season, Masoum-Alizadeh highlighted that Hamedan has prepared accommodations for over 6,600 guests, with the capacity expected to exceed 21,000 per day when accounting for informal and emergency lodging options.

Considering the safety and satisfaction of the visitors as a significant issue, the official pinpointed that measures are in place, including the deployment of 350 inspectors from various government agencies to oversee service facilities and accommodations.

Masoum-Alizadeh also declared that Hamedan is set to host 13 exhibitions and bazaars showcasing local handicrafts and souvenirs, with over 140 booths offering a wide array of traditional products to tourists.

Regarding the preparedness level of museums within the province, the official announced that they are poised to welcome visitors, making use of technologies such as VR.

“In addition to cultural and tourism initiatives, efforts are being made to enhance road safety and provide religious services for travelers,” the official noted, “a total of 52 roadside service complexes, 130 permanent fuel stations, and 55 active mosques, along with temporary prayer areas, will be available to cater to the needs of holidaymakers.”

Masoum-Alizadeh in his concluding remarks, pointed to Hamedan as a gateway to the western region of Iran and the capital of history and civilization, noting the province's readiness to offer a warm welcome to visitors.

With 1,800 historical and natural attractions, more than 1000 of which are registered as national heritage, Hamedan stands out as a prime destination for tourism.

The province boasts a rich tapestry of historical and natural wonders, from the majestic Ali Sadr Cave, the world's largest water cave, to the tomb of Avicenna and the Alavian Dome, awaiting exploration.

As preparations continue in full swing, Hamedan province aims to ensure a memorable and enjoyable experience for all visitors during the Nowruz holiday season.
