TEHRAN – On Sunday, the National Museum of Iran hosted the unveiling of a captivating new book titled “Ancient Iran: The Definitive Visual History”.

The event drew scholars, historians, and art enthusiasts alike, eager to celebrate the nation’s rich cultural legacy through a visual journey encapsulated within the pages of the book.

Addressing the unveiling ceremony, Jebrael Nokandeh, who presides over the prestigious museum, expressed eagerness to collaborate with national and international publishers to better showcase Iran’s heritage.

“One of the missions of the National Museum of Iran is to preserve and introduce the cultural heritage of Iran. One effective way to achieve this goal is by educating the public about Iran’s culture and archaeology,” Nokandeh said.

“The museum engages in various activities, such as setting up exhibitions, publishing books, brochures, and journals, organizing educational workshops and tours, as well as holding scientific meetings and virtual events. Additionally, the museum collaborates with national and international publishers to better showcase Iran’s heritage to interested parties.”

He said: “Since 2023, the National Museum of Iran has partnered with Cyan Publishing House to produce a four-volume work on Ancient Iranian History. Cyan Publications has been instrumental in translating and authoring works professionally to reach a wide audience.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Nokandeh highlighted the efforts of renowned researchers in compiling the “Ancient Iran: The Definitive Visual History” series based on the latest archaeological findings.

Nokandeh emphasized that “Ancient Iran: The Definitive Visual History” is an invaluable resource for those interested in the history and culture of Iran. Readers will gain a deeper understanding of Iran’s past after engaging with these volumes. Furthermore, the collection holds significant educational value and can serve as a valuable teaching tool for universities and high schools across the country.

His talks were complemented by the screening of clips showcasing the preparation and publication process of the series, reconstructions of notable ancient Iranian architecture, displays of Parthian and Sasanian attire, and musical performances.

The “Ancient Iran: The Definitive Visual History” series covers archaeology and history from the Early Paleolithic era to the Sassanid period, representing a successful collaboration between the museum, researchers from various institutions, and the publisher. This collection serves as an educational resource for Iran and the world.

The collection stands out for its accessible language, making it understandable to readers without prior knowledge. The authors and publishers have made the texts clear, comprehensible, and free from complexity.
