TEHRAN- Ali Bahreini, Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the Geneva-based international organizations, has noted that Tehran is extremely concerned about Israel’s plans to purposefully damage humanitarian infrastructure in order to undermine the Palestinian people’s ability to withstand the regime’s occupation.

Bahraini made the statement on Monday at the 55th session of the Human Rights Council.

The world has not seen such a grave human rights scenario during the previous eight decades since Israel’s control of the Palestinian lands, he added, denouncing the slaughter of 150 UN staff since the onset of Israel’s murderous campaign in Gaza in early October.

The Iranian envoy went on to say that Gaza’s medical system has collapsed as a consequence of intentional attacks by Israeli occupation troops on hospitals and other facilities that care for the sick and injured.

The scope of targeting of hospitals and medical and humanitarian personnel in the Gaza Strip has stunned the whole world, he underlined.

Bahreini pointed out that the Israeli occupation forces have accused certain humanitarian organizations operating in Gaza of being dishonest and have interfered with their operations, making life worse for the Palestinian people and driving them from their homes.

The ambassador demanded that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) fully execute its interim verdict, which calls on Israel to cease committing genocide in Gaza.

Since October 7, the Israeli forces have been relentlessly attacking the Gaza Strip, resulting in at least 30,534 Palestinian deaths—mostly women and children—and over 71,920 injuries.

Additionally, Israel has enforced a severe embargo on Gaza, putting its citizens—especially those living in the northern section of the territory—in danger of hunger.

The International Court of Justice issued an interim verdict in January directing Israel to take all necessary steps to halt crimes of genocide in Gaza and to ensure that inhabitants in the besieged Strip receive humanitarian aid.

Last year, Iran’s deputy permanent representative to the UN office in Geneva vehemently denounced the Israeli regime’s attempts to expel the Palestinian inhabitants from the Gaza Strip, calling it a “crime against humanity”.

Mahdi Aliabadi made the comments at a session of the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) Permanent Committee.

“The Israeli regime’s ruthless attacks on Gaza will lead to a new displacement crisis. The occupiers have resolved to forcibly evacuate Gaza’s population, something which serves as another example of crime against humanity by the Zionist regime,” Aliabadi stressed.

Aliabadi went on to add, “The IOM’s members cannot remain indifferent towards this crisis, and simply bear witness to the formation of a new crisis of displacement and migration.”

He stressed, “It is necessary that the organization adopt a strong and decisive position concerning whatever measure that leads to forcible evacuation of Gaza’s population.”
