Tehran cinematheque to screen Robert Bresson’s “Mouchette”
TEHRAN- The Cinematheque of the Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) will screen a restored version of Robert Bresson’s 1967 movie “Mouchette” on Monday.
The screening will be followed by a review session by Iranian critic Ali Alaei.
"Mouchette" is a French film directed by Robert Bresson. The story follows the life of a young girl named Mouchette who lives in a small rural town with her dysfunctional family. Mouchette faces difficult circumstances, including taking care of her sick mother and dealing with abuse from her alcoholic father.
As she grapples with hardship and loneliness, Mouchette's journey unfolds with a sense of tragic inevitability, capturing the raw emotions and struggles of adolescence in a harsh, uncaring world.
As Mouchette navigates her challenging surroundings, she grapples with her own inner turmoil and ultimately faces a tragic fate. "Mouchette" is known for its stark and minimalist style, characteristic of Bresson's filmmaking approach.
