U.S. plans to send more weapons to Israel
The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden is reportedly preparing to send more bombs and other weapons to Israel despite Washington’s claims for reaching a ceasefire in Gaza.
The proposed arms delivery includes MK-82 bombs and KMU-572 Joint Direct Attack Munitions that add precision guidance to bombs, and FMU-139 bomb fuses, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing current and former American officials.
It added that the value of the weapons is estimated to be "tens of millions of dollars”.
As of December 2023, the Biden administration had skipped congressional review of weapons sale to Israel twice.
The Biden administration has faced criticism for continuing to supply arms to Israel as allegations pile up that American-made weapons have been used in the regime’s strikes that have killed nearly 29,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 7.
Israel's air and ground offensive has since devastated much of Gaza and forced nearly all of Gaza’s inhabitants from their homes.
