Scholz expresses concern about Iran becoming dominant regional power
TEHRAN - German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met with U.S. President Joe Biden on Friday, raising concerns about the prospect of Iran becoming the leading power in the West Asia region.
"We are at a critical juncture in regional politics," Scholz said, stressing that "it's essential that Iran doesn't emerge as the dominant force."
The two leaders addressed a range of other vital issues, including the Russia-Ukraine war, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and Iran.
Both Scholz and Biden reaffirmed their commitment to the two-state solution as the foundation for lasting peace between the Zionist regime and Palestinians. This comes shortly after Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with foreign ministers from several regional countries to discuss the same topic.
On the Ukraine war, Scholz reiterated Germany's unwavering support for the Ukrainian people and their government.
