Iran FM flies to Beirut for high-level talks with Lebanese and resistance leaders
TEHRAN - Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian departed Tehran for Beirut to meet with “senior Lebanese officials and leaders of resistance groups”.
Iran’s ambassador to Beirut Mojtaba Amani said on Thursday that Amir Abdollahian will hold “important meetings” with Lebanese officials in line with Tehran’s “consultations” over the ongoing developments in the region.
Quoting informed sources, the Syrian al Watan newspaper also said the Iranian foreign minister will visit Damascus next week and then will head to Doha, Qatar.
Amir Abdollahian met Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas officials in November in Beirut for talks on Israel’s war on Gaza. He warned at the time that “the scope of the war will expand” if a ceasefire fails to hold.
Hezbollah has repeatedly traded deadly cross-border fire with Israel since the start of the Gaza war on October 7, raising fears of a broader conflagration.
