TEHRAN PAPERS

American attacks are an attempt to take the initiative in West Asia

February 6, 2024 - 19:42

TEHRAN - In an analysis, the Iran newspaper discussed America's performance in West Asia and wrote: America's efforts can be seen as an example of deterrence, but it seems that this deterrence is against the Zionist regime this time.

Over the past month, the authorities of the Zionist regime have repeatedly claimed that they intend to attack Iran. Netanyahu said that they will attack Iran because Iran is behind the attacks of the Houthis and the Lebanese Hezbollah. The claim of attack on Iran by the Zionists is a calculation error, and considering that America is aware of the dangers of this stupidity, it is trying to take the initiative in West Asia with limited attacks. As a result, we think this deterrence can be seen as a measure to satisfy the Israeli radicals, which is done with the aim of preventing the increase of tensions, rather than targeting Iran. America knows better than any other country that the worst nightmare of the century is Iran being dragged into a full-scale military confrontation with Israel.

Shargh: Deadlock of negotiations

Shargh dedicated its editorial to the strategic policy of Iran and the United States in the region and said: With the "unwritten understanding" that was reached between Iran and the United States, in addition to the exchange of prisoners and the transfer of Iran's assets from South Korea to Qatar, other events also happened, such as the decrease in the level and speed of uranium enrichment in Iran, the continued non-implementation of Iran's oil embargo, etc., and at the same time, the level of tension in the region also significantly decreased, which included attacks against American military bases in the region. The October 7 attack and Israel's widespread crimes against Palestinian civilians apparently put the "unwritten understanding" into trouble, which was accompanied by complications such as increasing the speed of uranium enrichment in Iran, a sharp increase in attacks on American military bases in Syria and Iraq, and the re-blocking of Iran's money in Qatar. Iran denied any participation in the deadly operation, the spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry showed a soft reaction to the attacks and directed his criticism mainly at Israel, and there was no sign of any intention to retaliate. The Iranian authorities have once again shown that they do not intend to have a military confrontation with the United States.

Arman-e-Melli: American electoral movements centered on Iran

In a note, Arman-e-Melli discussed how the American elections are centered on Iran. It wrote: These days, the region and its developments are the focus of American political and electoral debates. Of course, the issue of Iran is more than the region, which has become an endless debate in the political and electoral circles of Washington, and the way the Republican and Democratic candidates look at Iran in the remaining months until the U.S. presidential election is very important. The issue of Iran is important because the United States wants to reach an agreement with Tehran on the nuclear issue, but in the region, it is under pressure from military forces that the Americans believe are affiliated with Iran. Although Tehran claims that the resistance movements in the region have nothing to do with Iran, many believe that if the United States conducts too many operations against the resistance in the region, there is a possibility that the entire region will become a place for the resistance. From this point of view, it seems that the issue of Iran will continue to be a first-class issue in the United States, and the United States has no choice against it. Also, it cannot do anything against Iran.
