TEHRAN PAPERS

Biden's noisy show

February 4, 2024 - 19:3

TEHRAN - In a commentary, the Iran newspaper discussed the recent U.S. attacks.

It wrote: On Saturday morning, a few days after the U.S. government threatened to revenge the deadly attack on the country's military base on the border of Syria and Jordan, the U.S. military operation in the Middle East against the resistance forces was launched. Although Washington's diplomatic sources in their alleged positions announced these attacks against the IRGC advisory centers and its overseas branch in Iraq and Syria, the Islamic Republic has declared that it did not have a base in any of the countries targeted by the U.S. attacks and no losses have been suffered and it was a strategic mistake by Washington. The positions of the American statesmen showed that Joe Biden is finding a way to escape from the deadlock of the Gaza war, which has imposed heavy damage costs on his country and caused a wide wave of domestic and foreign criticism. So, Biden has seen no other way but to accuse the Islamic Republic and launch a dramatic military attack in the Middle East, the attacks that he tried to describe as widespread, deterrent and damaging for Iran, but the information that news sources published about the scope and areas of American missile operations showed the opposite of these claims.

Hamshahri: Iranian drones are the focus of Westerners

In an article, Hamshahri discussed the capability of Iranian drones and the reaction of Westerners and said: The death of three American soldiers at a base on the border of Jordan and Syria, in addition to increasing tensions in the region, also had an important point; once again, the name of Iranian drones has become popular, because, after this attack, the American officials claimed that this attack was carried out by a "Shahed drone made in Iran". Although the American authorities have not provided any documents for their claim, this matter has caused the attention of the world media to be attracted to Iranian drones once again. Therefore, international experts believe that Iranian drones have the ability to change the nature of war in the region. In such a situation, the Guardian newspaper investigated the strategic features of Iranian drones in a report and emphasized that Iranian drones change the nature of war as they are "lethal", "cheap" and "abundant" weapons. This claim is made in a situation where the Washington-Tel Aviv axis, along with some European governments, are increasingly escalating tensions throughout the region.

Arman-e-Melli: Should the tension be extended to a mutual military tension?

In a conversation with international relations analyst Dr. Ali Bigdeli, Arman-e-Melli discussed the most important developments caused by the increase in tension between Iran and the United States and wrote: The possibility of a military attack by the United States on Iran is weak. In the current situation, Biden is facing two important challenges. The first is the election challenge, which is representing a complicated situation, and the second is the challenge of increasing oil prices. For this reason, if he attacks Iran or turns the level of tension into military tension, he will not take such a risk considering that the possibility of this tension intensifying is very high. At the same time, there is a high possibility that the Arab countries will be dragged to this war. In the current situation, when European countries are facing energy challenges and on the other hand, they have threatened Russia, the issue of energy is important for European countries and America. Today, the value of gasoline has increased for America. For this reason, if the issue of gasoline is raised in the election debates, it can be considered a weak point for the Biden administration. For this reason, I believe that the U.S. will not attack Iran directly. However, the U.S. will show its strength to the resistance groups in Syria and Iraq.
