Executed terrorists tried to blow up a Defense Ministry factory in Esfahan

TEHRAN – Iran executed four members of the Komala terrorist group on Monday morning. The individuals were attempting to plan a bombing attack at a Defense Ministry factory in Esfahan under the direction of Israel's Mossad spy agency.

In July of last year, Iran's Ministry of Intelligence issued a statement disclosing the infiltration of a terrorist group associated with Mossad, entering the country through the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Iranian intelligence forces successfully dismantled this group before they could carry out their intended plans.

The case of the four individuals underwent an extensive investigation in the Islamic Revolution Court. On September 18, 2023, a verdict was reached, charging them with collaborating in favor of the Zionist regime.

Following an appeal by the defendants, the case underwent further review in the Supreme Court. After careful consideration, the Supreme Court's investigating branch rejected the appeal. Consequently, the decision of the Islamic Revolution Court, which sentenced the four individuals to death for their collaboration with the Zionist regime, was upheld.

Terrorists busted only days before the planned attack

The key figures within the Mossad-affiliated terrorist team included Mohammad Faramarzi, who served as the team leader and director, Mohsen Mazloum, responsible for guarding, driving, and providing support to the team, Wafa Azarbar, brother of Abdollah Azarbar (the second in command of the Komala terrorist group responsible for the transfer of bombs) and Pejman Fatehi, tasked with removing obstacles and engaging with people in case of problems.

Their sinister plot to carry out an operation against a Ministry of Defense center in Najaf Abad, Isfahan, on July 23, 2022, was thwarted when Iranian forces arrested them just days before the planned attack.

The roots of their involvement with Mossad trace back about a year and a half before the foiled operation. Mossad recruited these individuals through a senior member of the Komala terrorist group. Subsequently, they underwent comprehensive operational training in military headquarters across African countries, spanning multiple stages.

Mossad officers actively participated in these training sessions, with even David Barnia, the Mossad Chief, making a notable appearance in one of the meetings. Barnia delivered a motivational speech to the team members.

The operational courses undertaken by the group encompassed a range of skills, including working with weapons, face painting, utilizing communication systems, and crafting cover stories. Additionally, specialized courses covered operational maneuvers using simulation models and the assembly and activation of explosive devices.

Investigations uncovered the following items:

1. The most recent models of communication systems, including specialized phones and routers.

2. Eight highly potent explosive devices designed for the primary target, along with an additional eight smaller bombs intended for obliterating the team's equipment post the main operation.

3. Four specialized weapons equipped with silencers, accompanied by a substantial quantity of cartridges.

4. A comprehensive set of makeup tools and instruments for altering fingerprints.

5. A substantial sum in U.S. dollars.

6. National identification cards, as well as a variety of counterfeit Iranian and Iraqi identity documents.

Why Mossad chose to recruit operatives from Komala

The Zionist regime has consistently aimed to leverage the capabilities of adversarial groups for operations against Iran. In pursuit of this strategy, the Mossad spy service identified the Komala terrorist group as a prime candidate for exploitation.

Members of this group not only undergo military training from the onset of their affiliation but also harbor ideological opposition to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Their familiarity with the country's culture, alignment with Mossad's envisioned covers, and a heightened level of violence compared to regional groups make them well-suited to carry out actions in line with Mossad's objectives—an aspect duly noted by the spy service.

Consequently, the selection of individuals from the Komala terrorist group stands out as a pivotal choice for Mossad in executing terrorist operations.

Islamic Revolution Court delivers verdict on key defendants in a landmark case

Following the completion of the preliminary investigation at the prosecutor's office, including the gathering of evidence and documents, as well as establishing the crime and explaining the charges to each defendant, the case progressed to the Islamic Revolution Court for the issuance of a verdict.

The Islamic Revolution Court meticulously scrutinized the accusations against the four main defendants, encompassing charges such as intelligence cooperation for the benefit of the usurping Zionist regime, the formation and management of a terrorist group with the intent of compromising national security, and membership in a terrorist group aimed at disrupting the country's security. Subsequently, the court issued its verdict, taking into account the case details, the confessions of the accused, and the available evidence.

Considering the modus operandi of the crime, the detrimental effects of their actions, the extensive background and gravity of the offense, and the defendant's awareness of the potential harm to people's security, the court handed down the following sentences, citing relevant legal articles:

-    Execution for cooperating with the Zionist regime, by Article 6 of the law countering hostile actions of the Zionist Regime against Peace and Security. This article declares any espionage cooperation for the benefit of the Zionist regime as an act of war and corruption on Earth.

-    10 years of imprisonment for the formation of a terrorist group.

-    5 years of imprisonment for being a member of the Komala terrorist group, along with the confiscation of discovered property belonging to the defendants.

Given the appealable nature of the verdict, the defendants' lawyers appealed, leading to the case being referred to the Supreme Court for further consideration.

Supreme Court scrutinizes appeal of four defendants in a high-stakes case

After a thorough review that involved a meeting, examination of case documents, and careful consideration of the written opinion provided by the Supreme Court's assistant prosecutor, the branch responsible for the case in the country's Supreme Court made a decisive determination.

In their deliberations, the Supreme Court affirmed the findings of crime and corruption attributed to the four primary accused individuals in the case.

Importantly, the court dismissed the appeal made by the accused and upheld the sentence originally issued by the Islamic Revolution Court, which mandates the execution of the four accused individuals.
