Adversaries use terrorism to undermine Iran’s power: FM
TEHRAN – Iran's Foreign Minister has cautioned against adversaries using terrorism to undermine Iran's policy of good neighborliness.
“Today, the enemies are seeking to target the good neighborliness policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran through the tool of terrorism,” Hossein Amir Abdollahian said at the 7th conference on multilateralism in the history of Iran's foreign relations in Tehran on Sunday.
Emphasizing the policy's security focus, he pledged Iran's commitment to safeguarding friendship, peace, and regional security. Amir Abdollahian cited recent terrorist activities in Iraq's Kurdistan Region and Pakistan's Balochistan province, noting Iran's diplomatic efforts for joint understanding and political solutions. He also disclosed plans for his upcoming visit to Pakistan and the visit of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary to Iraq.
Concerning the Gaza crisis, Amir Abdollahian characterized it as a litmus test for humanitarian ideals in the current century. He highlighted ongoing Israeli regime war crimes in Gaza, encompassing murders, massacres, forced displacement, and genocide. Amir Abdollahian questioned the effectiveness of international organizations in resolving the Palestinian crisis, expressing dismay over the lack of progress despite the passing of 114 days of Israeli aggression.
The top Iranian diplomat highlighted that for approximately four months, a widespread war crime has been unfolding, perpetrated by the inhumane Zionist regime against the people of Gaza. He urged every free individual to question themselves and, of course, the leaders of the different countries about the achievements of international organizations in resolving this crisis.
He stressed the importance of critically reflecting on the roots and approaches of multilateralism today.
Amir Abdollahian pointed out that multilateral tools and structures can be beneficial only when they adhere to their primary objective of creating equal opportunities for all stakeholders and beneficiaries. However, if these tools deviate from their true nature and become instruments for those who have wielded power and oppression in the past, they will pose a threat to collective peace and security.
