TEHRAN- Iran strongly condemns the Israeli regime’s “hostile” attitude to the United Nations High Court’s ruling to avert genocide in the Gaza Strip, which is now undergoing a cruel Israeli onslaught.

Nasser Kanaani, the Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, made the statements in a post on X on Friday.

Israeli officials responded by accusing the International Court of Justice of “antisemitic” prejudice.

“The Zionist regime’s hostile reaction to the ruling showed that the regime’s foundation is based upon aggression and discrimination, and that it lends no credence to the international legal norms and regulations,” Kanaani said in a statement.

Kanaani also addressed the United States’ response to the verdict, stating that it thought the claims of genocide were “unfounded.”

“The type of attitude adopted by the U.S. administration towards the ruling indicates Washington’s instrumentalization of international judicial mechanisms,” Kanaani averred.  

According to the spokesperson, although belatedly, the decision by the ICJ serves as a testament to the bitter reality that what is going on in Gaza is an instance of international crimes, including genocide, which is and continues to be committed with the U.S. administration’s unlimited support for the Zionist regime.

The spokesman concluded his remarks by saying, “The people of the world are now faced with the question that what additional permission do the international organizations and institutions tasked with preserving the international peace and security need to force the Zionist regime into stopping the genocide?”

Earlier, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) delivered an interim verdict in a lawsuit brought against Israel by South Africa, requiring Tel Aviv to take all steps possible to avert genocide in Gaza.

The Israeli regime has been at war with Gaza since October 7, 2023, following an operation conducted out by the Hamas resistance group. 

More than 26,000 Palestinians, over 70% of them are women, children, and adolescents, have been killed in the merciless attack, with up to 64,100 more injured.

The U.S. has been fully supporting the conflict on a military and political level. It has stopped the ratification of every UN Security Council resolution that has called for an end to Israeli aggression and provided the regime with more than 10,000 tons of military weaponry.

Iran lambastes EU troika interfering remarks over Sorayya satellite

In a statement made public on Saturday, Kanaani denounced the UK, France, and Germany’s meddling statement over Iran’s Sorayya research satellite launch. 

The three parties criticized the Sorayya satellite launch using Iran’s Qaem-100 satellite carrier in a joint statement on Friday. 

They said that the satellite used technologies necessary for the creation of a long-range ballistic missile system, which could enable Iran to launch more powerful weapons.

In response, Kanaani emphasized that Iran has the “inalienable and legitimate right” to advance scientifically.

He also stated that the EU3’s “interfering comments,” which reflect their self-serving opinions about Iran’s progress, will in no way weaken Iran’s resolve to advance science and technology steadily.

“In spite of a series of arbitrary interpretations based on the unilateral tendencies of certain parties, there are no limitations to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s scientific and applied activities in the space research sphere in compliance with international regulations. Accordingly, our country categorically rejects and roundly dismisses the imposition of such unconventional approaches,” he stated.

Iran’s freedom to employ peaceful technology for scientific and research purposes, as guaranteed by international law and rules, was reiterated by the spokesperson, who also stated that Tehran will not wait for the opinions of nations that wish to impose their unilateral policies on other nations.

Last week, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) successfully launched its Sorayya satellite into a 750-kilometer orbit.

The launch has marked a significant milestone for Iran’s aerospace capabilities and further demonstrates its growing ambitions in space technology.

The three-stage solid-fuel Qaem 100 satellite carrier, developed by the IRGC Aerospace Force, carried the Sorayya satellite into space. 

The satellite's successful placement in orbit has set a new record for Iran, as it represents the first time the country has launched a satellite into this altitude.

Sorayya is a research satellite with a mass of approximately 50 kilograms. It is equipped with a variety of scientific instruments that will be used to collect data on various aspects of space, including weather patterns, Earth's resources, and the environment.

The successful launch of the Sorayya satellite is a testament to Iran's ongoing commitment to developing its space program and expanding its technological capabilities.
