TEHRAN- “How Weird!” by Dutch award-winning author and illustrator Mark Janssen has recently been published in Persian.

Translated by Sahar Tarhandeh, the book has been published by Fatemi Publications in Tehran.

In "How Weird!", Mark Janssen invites young readers into a world where animals discover mirrors for the first time. This silly board book takes children on a delightful journey, exploring the concepts of symmetry, identity, and the fascinating animal kingdom.

The story begins innocently enough, with something peculiar lying on the floor. Curiosity piques, and the animals pick it up, unknowingly setting in motion a series of hilariously weird events. With each turn of the page, the situation gets even more absurd, until the climax where everything reaches a wonderfully bizarre crescendo. It's a wild ride that is sure to captivate young readers and keep them eagerly flipping through the pages.

One of the highlights of "How Weird!" is Janssen's ability to capture the essence of each animal through his vibrant and playful illustrations. His use of bold colors and whimsical details breathes life into the characters, making them irresistibly charming. From the curious facial expressions of the animals to the imaginative scenarios they find themselves in, Janssen's illustrations are a visual feast that will have children laughing and pointing out the quirky details.

At the end of the book, budding young minds are given the opportunity to engage with the concept of symmetry, as a mylar mirror is included for children to observe their own reflections. This interactive element adds an extra layer of engagement, encouraging children to explore the idea of self-identity and the symmetry found in nature.

Having received numerous prestigious awards throughout his career, including the Mooiste Boekomslag and the Andersen Award, Mark Janssen continues to enchant readers with his magical and imaginative worlds. His books, such as "I Want a Lion!" and "Dinosaurs Don't Exist," have gained international acclaim for their ability to spark young imaginations and ignite a love for reading.
