Azadi Tower cinematheque to show acclaimed thriller crime film “Anatomy of a Fall”
TEHRAN-The newly-opened cinematheque of Azadi Tower in Tehran will screen the 2023 French thriller crime film “Anatomy of a Fall” directed by Justine Triet on Tuesday.
Being the fourth program at the cinematheque, the film screening at 5 p.m. will be followed by a review session in the presence of the film critic Shapour Azimi and journalist Parisa Sasani, Honaronline reported on Sunday.
In “Anatomy of a Fall,” a woman, performed by German actress Sandra Hüller, is suspected of her husband's murder, and their blind son faces a moral dilemma as the sole witness.
For the past year, Sandra, her husband Samuel, and their 11-year-old son Daniel have lived a secluded life in a remote town in the French Alps. When Samuel is found dead in the snow below their chalet, the police question whether he was murdered or committed suicide. Samuel's suspicious death is presumed murder, and Sandra becomes the main suspect. What follows is not just an investigation into the circumstances of Samuel's death but an unsettling psychological journey into the depths of Sandra and Samuel's conflicted relationship.
The film had its world premiere at the 76th Cannes Film Festival last May and won the Palme d'Or award. It received acclaim from critics, who praised Triet and Hüller.
The Azadi Tower is a monument on Azadi Square. It is one of the landmarks of Tehran, marking the west entrance to the city, and is part of the Azadi Cultural and Artistic Complex, which also includes an underground museum.
