TEHRAN - The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Wednesday surrounding the current situation in Afghanistan, outlining how it intends to assist the nation in overcoming its obstacles.

As one of the members of the UN, Iran, according to the Foreign Ministry, supports positive measures that can guarantee peace, stability, security, and the territorial integrity of Afghanistan.

The statement went on to say that in order to maintain stability and security in Afghanistan and the region, the United Nations must give special attention to humanitarian concerns, difficulties, and circumstances necessary to carry out its obligations and responsibilities.

Iran has, as in previous years, endeavored to comprehend the challenging circumstances facing its people in the aftermath of the U.S. occupation in order to assist the honorable nation of Afghanistan in overcoming the miseries of occupation, the statement said.

It further declared that Iran aims to lessen the suffering of the Afghan people during the transitional era.

The statement said that the continued hosting of millions of Afghans, supporting trade and commerce, facilitating the movement of Afghan residents and citizens, providing services in healthcare, and helping visually impaired people from natural disasters signify the constructive approach and humanitarian goals of Iran toward its neighbor in recent years.

Reviewing the developments in Afghanistan has demonstrated that failing to address the impending scenario will have disastrous ramifications for world peace and security, it stated.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry underscored that the international community and organizations should recognize that “the current Afghanistan cannot tolerate a new setback.”

The ministry emphasized that Afghanistan’s neighborhood and regional environment serve as a gateway into the global community and that Iran’s suggestion to form a regional contact group is a sensible first step in realizing any new effort.

It added it is crucial to focus on the current realities and persistent issues that Afghanistan and the international community are facing.

It further stated that initiating new cases without organizing the deep-rooted issues of the past, such as immigration, drugs, and terrorism, will not lead to solving the Afghanistan problem.

Last week, in a recent diplomatic overture, the acting Afghan foreign minister engaged in extensive discussions with key economic stakeholders from both Afghanistan and Iran.

The primary focus of these high-level meetings was to encourage and promote increased participation in the Afghan economic market.

The Taliban's foreign minister emphasized the untapped potential and numerous economic opportunities that could be harnessed through proactive engagement.

The discussions were not merely about economic transactions but aimed to lay the groundwork for a sustained and mutually beneficial collaboration between the two nations.

The diplomatic visit underscored the importance of fostering a strong economic partnership between Afghanistan and Iran.

The foreign minister's message resonated with economic actors, urging them to assume a more active role in shaping the trajectory of the Afghan market.

This emphasis on collaborative economic efforts reflects a strategic move towards building a resilient and interdependent relationship.

In his statements, the Taliban's foreign minister conveyed a positive outlook for the future, expressing hope for a trajectory of mutual benefit and shared prosperity.
