TEHRAN- The head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) announced that the chamber will host the 40th Meeting of the General Assembly of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (ICCIA) this year.

Addressing the meeting of the board members of ICCIMA on Sunday, Hossein Selahvarzi said that after 23 years, Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture will host the ICCIA meeting in 2024, adding, “We will host the private sectors of 57 Islamic countries in this event.”

“It is an opportunity for the development of Iran’s economic diplomacy and strengthening our economic ties with the Islamic states, attracting investment, making joint ventures, and expanding export”, the ICCIMA head stressed.

He also announced that Iran's Chamber will host the next meeting of the private sector of the D8 countries in the new year and added, "We expect that chambers across the country, joint chambers, and also associations will put this issue on their agenda in order to host this event at the best way to develop trade and export.”

Members of the D-8 Chambers of Commerce and Industry (D-8 CCI) are the following National Chambers of Commerce and Industries of the eight founding countries of D-8:

a) The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI)

b) Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC)

c) Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN)

d) Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mine and Agriculture (ICCIMA)

e) National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM)

f) Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA)

g) The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI)

h) The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB)

Elsewhere in his remarks, Selahvarzi announced the formation of the ICCIMA structure transformation committee in line with modification of processes and improvement of performances, and said, “The establishment of this committee was one of our major plans.”

The committee has started drafting the vision document of the Iran Chamber for the next year, he added.

The head of ICCIMA further stressed the strengthening of competitive domestic production.

In this line, he called on the government to take necessary actions and support the private sectors in tow major fields.

The first one was allocation of foreign currency for the import of raw materials, to prevent from idle status of the production units and unemployment.

The second one was modification of the structure and regulations related to the foreign currency commitments, so that the companies’ problems and barriers related to the export will be removed.

Selahvarzi stressed that the ICCIMA board hopes that using the capacity of the chambers across the country, joint chambers, and associations it will be able to strengthen the position of the private sector, develop trade and export, and implement the Leader's order to focus on passing the chain of sanctions.
