ECO Cultural Institute in Tehran hosts “Afghanistan's Night”
TEHRAN- The ECO Cultural Institute (ECOCI) hosted the "Afghanistan's Night" ceremony on Sunday, in its International Conference Hall in Tehran.
Attended by numerous cultural and artistic activists, this cultural-artistic event aimed to highlight the significance of language, art, and culture in reconnecting individuals with their ancestral heritage, the institute announced.
In his speech, Saad Khan, the Pakistani president of ECOCI, emphasized the vital role that these elements play in allowing people to delve into the historical depths of their predecessors. Furthermore, Khan stated that the ECO region stands out as one of the most culturally diverse and historically rich areas in the world.
It is home to numerous ancient civilizations, making it a treasure trove for those interested in exploring the past, he noted.
Afghanistan, in particular, holds a special place not only within the region but globally, with its invaluable historical and cultural background, he added.
“The country has gifted the world with renowned literature and art, which continue to inspire humanity today.”
During the event, both Afghan writer Seyyed Askar Mousavi and Afghan calligrapher Mohammad Mehdi Mirzai took the stage to discuss the vital importance of the Persian language and art within the ECO region.
Additionally, Afghan poets including Kazem Kazemi, Ali Madd Rezvani, Tahmasabi Khorasani, Ehsan Badakhshani, Zahra Hosseinzadeh, Mozhgan Faramesh, and Zahra Zahedi captivated the audience with their beautiful poetry readings.
The ceremony also saw the delivery of a message from Afghan artist Salman Ali Uruzgani, which was eloquently presented by Afghan poet and writer Zainab Bayat. Following this, the music group led by Habib Mansouri enchanted the attendees with live Afghan music.
The event concluded with the opening of an exhibition featuring 43 captivating calligraphy and gilding works by esteemed masters such as Mohammad Mehdi Mirzai, Salman Ali Uruzgani, and Shakira Alami. This exhibition will be open to the public until January 15, at the ECO Cultural Institute's premises.
