Individuals in Kerman donate dozens of historical artifacts to cultural heritage museums
TEHRAN - In a heartwarming display of support for their cultural heritage, several people of Kerman generously contributed 281 historical and cultural items to the local unit safeguarding the province’s heritage.
The commander of Iran’s Cultural Heritage Protection Unit expressed gratitude for the public’s trust and highlighted the successful cultural awareness efforts focused on the optimal preservation of historical and cultural assets.
This initiative has paved the way for the return of historical treasures that were in the possession of local residents, Hassan Mehri said.
The commander elaborated on the collaboration with local authorities in Jiroft, Kahnooj, and Ghaleh Ganj counties, where various artifacts such as pedestal vessels, bowls, vases, cups, and pitchers were handed over to cultural heritage experts.
“The authenticity of all donated items has been verified through technical evaluations, confirming their antiquity, which traces back to prehistoric times,” the commander added.
Kerman is something of a cultural melting pot, blending various regional cultures over time. It is also home to rich tourist spots and historical sites, including bazaars, mosques, caravanserais, and ruins of ancient urban areas. It is bounded by the provinces of Fars in the west, Yazd in the north, South Khorasan in the northeast, Sistan-Baluchestan in the east, and Hormozgan in the south. It includes the southern part of the central Iranian desert, the Dasht-e Lut.
