Over 10.5m cellphones imported in 9 months

TEHRAN - Over 10.545 million cell phones worth $2.237 billion were imported into the country in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-December 21), according to the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

Mohammad Rezvanifar said, of the total imported phones, 10,179,860 worth $2,025,262,000 were imported into the country by commercial importers and 365,668 phones worth $212.493 million were imported by passengers.

Customs statistics show that the import of mobile phones in the previous Iranian year 1401 (ended on March 20) was 14,315,000 units, of which 13,764,000 units were imported commercially and 550,000 units were imported by passengers.

Also, the value of the mobile phone imports by commercial companies in 1401 was $2.871 billion and by passengers was $346.73 million.
