Iran police urge Pakistan to enhance security measures
TEHRAN – Iran’s deputy police chief Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei has stressed collaboration with Pakistan to tackle drug trafficking and bolster border security.
Rezaei made the remarks in a meeting on Sunday with Major General Muhammad Aniq Ur Rehman, the commander of Pakistan's Anti-Narcotics Force.
The talks centered on the importance of Pakistan preventing terrorist activities on its soil.
Highlighting the deep-rooted relations between Iran and Pakistan, Rezaei emphasized ongoing coordination and strong ties, noting that the adversaries consistently strive to create discord between the two neighboring nations.
In response to a recent terrorist incident resulting in the tragic loss of 11 police forces in Rask County in southeast Iran, Rezaei expressed gratitude for Pakistan's messages of solidarity. Stressing the shared responsibility to prevent such incidents, he underscored the significance of the shared borders.
Rezaei also urged Pakistan to take decisive action against individuals and groups involved in drug trafficking on its side of the border. He emphasized the expectation that the discussions would lead to concrete actions and effective information exchange to counter such malicious activities.
Highlighting the intolerability of allowing or training disruptive forces on Pakistani soil, the Iranian police official urged Pakistani authorities to address these issues seriously. He expressed hope the next meeting would bring positive news of dismantling, arresting, or eliminating those involved in such activities.
In response, Major General Rehman acknowledged the common ground between Iran and Pakistan in combating drug trafficking. Emphasizing shared history, religion, and communication between the two nations, he warned against evildoers seeking to undermine the friendly relations between the countries.
