Turkish travel insiders visit Iran on fam tour
TEHRAN – On Wednesday, a group of Turkish travel insiders started a familiarization tour of attractions in Iran’s West Azarbaijan province.
The event aims to introduce the tourism potential of West Azarbaijan Province to 34 Turkish tourism activists, marking an effort to foster greater cooperation and mutual understanding in the realm of tourism between Iran and Turkey, a local official said on Wednesday.
The itinerary of the three-day tour comprises a wide variety of natural and cultural sites across the province, the official said.
Such fam tours signify Iran's efforts to promote tourism and cultural exchange, striving for a balanced influx of visitors between Iran and Turkey, enhancing collaboration between the two nations in the tourism sector.
Turkey saw 2.1 million tourist arrivals from Iran during the first ten months of the current year, which rose three percent compared to the same period a year earlier, its Culture and Tourism Ministry has said.
According to available data, 280,951 Iranian nationals visited Turkey in October, making the Islamic Republic the fourth tourism source for its neighboring country in that month.
