Atrocities in Gaza indicate breakdown of defeated Israeli regime: commander
TEHRAN- A top Iranian Army commander has said that Israeli atrocities against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip are an indication of the regime’s deterioration and weakness.
In an interview with Mehr news agency that is published on Monday, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, deputy chief of the Iranian Army for Coordination, stressed, “Now, the Zionist regime (Israel) is in a position of weakness and collapse and the presence of media has revealed all the realities on the ground and nothing is hidden from anyone.”
He called on the so-called human rights activists to take notice of Israel’s continuous crimes against the helpless and downtrodden Gazans.
He said that in the absence of assistance from the United States and European nations, the Israeli regime would have fallen by now.
The senior Iranian commander went on to say that the Israeli regime would not have targeted women and children in Gaza hospitals if it had been strong and determined to resist.
Sayyari compared the Israeli regime to a lunatic who commits any deed he pleases, emphasizing, “This indicates its weakness.”
He said that no one in the world considers hurting innocent people, particularly women and children, to be a military operation or tactic.
Sayyari condemned Israel’s attacks on Gaza’s al-Shifa Hospital under the pretext of finding underground tunnels used by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, noting that the regime has failed to even verify its accusations and that everyone acknowledged that this was an exaggeration.
Israel has made Gaza’s hospitals a special focus of its continuing genocide against the coastal enclave, claiming that they hold Palestinian resistance fighters and their weapons.
Al-Shifa, Gaza’s largest hospital, has borne the brunt of Israel’s assaults on the territory’s healthcare sector, with the regime alleging it holds a “command center for Hamas.”
The World Health Organization (WHO) released a revised assessment of the condition at al-Shifa Hospital last month, calling it a “death zone” and a desperate situation.
On October 7, Israel started a deadly war on Gaza after the territory’s Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, launched a surprise retaliation strike against the occupying regime, codenamed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm.
Since then, the regime has killed almost 17,997 people in Gaza, the vast majority of them are women and children. More than 49,000 individuals have also been injured.
Meanwhile, since the onset of the Gaza conflict, several Israeli officials, including the regime’s prime minister, have either publicly advocated for or pledged to commit genocide against Palestinians.
Tel Aviv has also deprived one of the world’s most densely inhabited areas of basic necessities like water, power, and gasoline. Due to a lack of medical supplies and food, 2.3 million Palestinians are at risk of starvation.
