U.S. veto of UN resolution act of war against Muslims: Iranian MP
TEHRAN – The spokesman of the presiding board of the Iranian Parliament, Seyed Nezameddin Mousavi, says U.S. veto of UN resolution on Gaza ceasefire amounts to an act of war against Muslims and Palestinians.
Speaking to Iranian media, Mousavi argued that recent U.S. actions contradicted their past attempts to portray themselves as human rights supporters, exposing unanimous political support for the Zionist regime through the UN veto.
Emphasizing the support for Palestine as a fundamental principle in Iran's foreign policy, Mousavi, Tehran's parliamentary representative, highlighted Iran's vigorous defense of Palestinians in response to recent developments in Gaza.
Mousavi reiterated Iran's advocacy for a referendum in the occupied territories, noting the failures of past agreements like the Oslo Accords and the Camp David Accords due to the Zionist regime's lack of commitment.
He asserted that the sole peaceful solution to the Palestinian crisis lies in a referendum involving all indigenous people, underlining Iran's unwavering commitment to this stance.
Mousavi also acknowledged the unequal war dynamics, recognizing the armed capabilities of the Zionist regime supplied by the U.S. and other Western governments.
Referring to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution's statement terming it an "irreparable defeat" for the Zionist regime, the lawmaker pointed to the Al-Aqsa Storm operation as being the evidence of the vulnerability and collapse of the Zionist regime and the Palestinians' faith-driven success.
In conclusion, Mousavi emphasized that the regime's attempts to restore power are irreparable, with their claims of hegemony and invincibility now completely vanished.
The UN Security Council's resolution, calling for an immediate and humane ceasefire in Gaza, was vetoed by the United States on December 17. The draft resolution, presented by the UAE, garnered support from over 100 countries and 13 of the 15 Security Council members.
