Iran Navy ready to take measures against foreign threats
TEHRAN – Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani has declared Iran's intention to expel U.S. naval aircraft carriers from the region, citing their malicious intentions.
Speaking at the National Conference on the Development of Makran Coasts held at Imam Sadegh University, Irani addressed the presence of U.S. naval aircraft carriers in the Persian Gulf, asserting, “Their indentations are malicious, and we will promptly expel them from the region.”
He emphasized the importance of maritime progress, echoing the Leader of the Islamic Revolution's emphasis on advancing in open seas. He highlighted the commendable strides made by the Iranian Navy since 2009.
During the conference, Irani disclosed, "In a meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, I conveyed our aspiration to circumnavigate the globe, a feat accomplished with the 86th naval fleet." He underscored that before the 86th naval fleet's mission, Iran had no record of traversing the Pacific Ocean, attributing the current capabilities to the blessings of the Islamic Revolution.
The Navy commander also commended the strategic position of Iranian coasts and their untapped potential for development.
Addressing the underdevelopment of the Makran coasts, Irani expressed concern that without serious attention, time would be lost.
He stated, "We are the hub of all sea corridors. Despite Russia being a superpower, it is surrounded by ice, limiting its maritime communication. Our enemies are distant, and Chabahar is a valuable port. However, in five years, its value will diminish as ships divert to other ports, making it economically impractical for them to come to our shores."
Irani emphasized the urgent need for active development along the Makran coasts, stating that without intervention, economic activities in the Persian Gulf would be impossible in the future. He highlighted Iran's neglect of maritime economic opportunities and the challenges faced in this critical area.
Regarding fisheries, Irani noted Iran's failure to exploit exclusive waters, suggesting that the country should capitalize on marine resources. He stated, "The sea can fulfill all our needs. The simplest of these is freshwater, transported from Chabahar."
The Navy commander concluded by urging the government to prioritize maritime affairs, fostering limitless entrepreneurship for a flourishing economy. He envisioned the profound impact of such developments on future generations and emphasized the imperative need for strategic maritime planning.
