TEHRAN – Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad Mohammad-Kazem Al-e-Sadegh and Iraq’s Agriculture Minister Abbas Jabr Al-Ali Al-Maliki have stressed the need for signing memorandums of understanding on agricultural and veterinary cooperation between the two countries, IRNA reported.

In a meeting in Baghdad on Tuesday, the officials exchanged views on ways of expanding agricultural cooperation between the two countries.

Al-e-Sadegh, in this meeting, pointed to the capabilities and new technologies of Iranian knowledge-based companies and expressed Tehran's readiness to cooperate with Iraq in various agricultural fields.

The Iraqi minister also considered this meeting as a good opportunity to continue communication and exchange ideas and discuss issues of common interest.

Referring to Iraq’s political stability and the reforms made in the investment laws and appropriate budget allocated for the agricultural sector, Al-Maliki said the conditions are suitable for foreign investment in this sector.

He called on Iranian companies to participate in the country’s agro-food exhibition which is going to be held by the Iraqi Agriculture Ministry in February.
