TEHRAN – A top military adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has forecasted a significant shift in the United States’ military maneuvers, anticipating their withdrawal from Syria and Iraq in the coming years.

Speaking on Wednesday, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi attributed the decline of U.S. troops’ presence in Iraq and Syria to the influence of popular resistance groups in these countries. He noted that the United States’ troop pullout from Afghanistan is expected to shape the path forward, leading to their eventual withdrawal from Syria and Iraq.

General Rahim Safavi engaged in a discussion about the impact of various ideologies on the social and political landscape of Iran and the broader West Asian region, underscoring the impact of resistance discourse.

Discussing the role of the resistance discourse in shaping political perspectives, especially in defense and international resistance fronts, the top general asserted that the teachings and experiences of the Islamic Revolution and the Iran-Iraq war have deeply resonated with other nations.

Concluding his statement, the top commander asserted that the discourse of resistance is the very thing that unites the Muslim community. “Keeping up the ideals of resistance is crucial for the liberation of al-Quds from the Zionists regime,” he noted.

On October 7, the Palestinian resistance group Hamas carried out a surprise operation on Israeli forces, rising up against the 75 years of occupation and oppression that the Palestinian people have been brutally subjected to.

The unfolding regional dynamics including the Israel-Gaza war, as predicted by Rahim Safavi, may reshape the geopolitical landscape in the coming years.
