Iranian first lady writes to wives of 40 European leaders on Gaza tragedy
TEHRAN – The Iranian President’s wife, Jamileh Alamolhoda, has addressed the spouses of 40 European leaders in a letter, asking them to condemn the killing of innocent Palestinian women and children in Gaza and take effective actions for peace.
“As humans, we should be ashamed of what is happening in our shared planet during these bitter days. Preserving human values requires the collective action of those who claim justice and freedom and detest injustice and misery. As powerful and influential women in Europe, you should take appropriate actions to help the oppressed women and innocent children of Gaza,” she wrote in the letter.
Alamolhoda asked the spouses of the European leaders how they could remain silent in the face of the brutal killing of Palestinians. She pointed out how depriving an impoverished population of more than 2 million of water, food, and fuel is against any ethical and legal standards.
"Madams, please as selfless and compassionate ladies ask your husbands on behalf of the women, mothers, and daughters of your land, to condemn the killing of Palestinian children and women and take urgent and effective measures to establish peace. I hope you will receive divine rewards for your humane efforts."
The president’s wife added that no religion in the world sees the massacre of women and children as justifiable. She stated that Israel has acquired a “policy of fear and hatred” to reach its sinister goals in the occupied territories.
“How a group [of people] can call themselves servants of God (Israel), but only spread the dominion of Satan through the policy of [fomenting] fear and hatred? Do we believe that the Almighty God would leave all these crimes without retribution?”
Israel’s relentless attacks against civilian sites in Gaza have so far failed to engender any criticism from the West.
