TEHRAN – In an article on October 26, the Haaretz newspaper tried to depict the Iranian diaspora that some of them, especially the monarchists, have been siding with Israel in its war crimes in Gaza as the prevalent view in Iran.

The article titled “Wakeup call for the world: Diaspora Iranians stand by Israel after attacks” is a sheer miscalculation.

Since the start of the unprecedented Operation Al-Aqsa Storm by Hamas on October 7 and the intensified Israeli barbarities under the pretext of “self-defense,” some think tanks have desperately sought ways to justify the Israeli unabated war crimes carried out in the Gaza Strip.

Following the footsteps of Western think tanks, Haaretz launched a little different scenario to put the Iranian opposition’s words into the Iranian people’s mouths.

Palestine was and will be the first issue for freedom seekers

The harsh rhetoric of Israeli leaders, namely Yoav Gallant, who called the Palestinians “human animals”, along with the Israeli army’s war crimes in the Gaza Strip, especially after the bombardment of Al-Ahli Hospital in the north of Gaza on October 18, prompted people around the world to pour into the streets carrying the Palestinian flags and voicing solidarity with the oppressed nation. This campaign of support for the Palestinians is continuing unabated.

The more Western leaders insist on their unwavering support for Tel Aviv, the louder the voices of pro-Palestinians are echoed worldwide. 

Being mad at Israeli war crimes and the incompetence of international bodies to halt the genocide in Gaza, Iranian people have also been staging rallies to censure Israeli war crimes and express solidarity with the Palestinians.

The gathering of Iranian mothers and their children before the UN Office on October 19 in Tehran, the female students’ rally in Tabriz on October 30 that was code-named “Storm Generation”, protests by students in Tabriz and medical staff in Dehloran, and pro-Palestinian rallies in Zanjan, Ahvaz, Isfahan, Semnan, Shiraz, and some other cities are all sign of support for Palestine.

This is while Andrew Galili and Sara Raviani were quoted in Jonathan Harnoff’s report in Haaretz saying Iranian people “boo criticism of Israel” and they are “tired,” connoting that Israel is a famous figure in the eyes of the Iranian diaspora.

Backed by Israel, Iranian diaspora pays tribute to Tel Aviv

Being backed financially, ideologically, and politically by Westerners and Tel Aviv in the 2022 unrest, the diaspora is now considered a failed project that was once looking to topple the Islamic Republic. 

As it has been clearly stated by the rioters and the Iranian diaspora in Haaretz’s October 26 report, provoking unrest inside Iran has always been on the table of the Westerners to hamper the country’s progress.

Leila Mansouri, a diaspora member, said, “True change in Iran will ultimately come from within.” 

The Israeli-Iranian diaspora’s equation seems quite meaningful. Once supported in 2022, the diaspora now backs the fake regime’s entity, closing their eyes to about 10,000 Palestinians killed so far in the Gaza Strip.

It should be noted that the overthrow of the Islamic Republic by the diaspora is now a hallucination. This is purely a miscalculation.
