TCCIMA calls on govt. to ease car production standards

TEHRAN – In a meeting between the members of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (TCCIMA)’s Industry and Mining and Transport Committees, the TCCIMA Secretary-General called on the government to adjust strict standards applied to commercial vehicle production.
As reported by the TCCIMA portal on Monday, Bahman Eshqi considered the unnecessary strict standards as a major challenge for the producers of the private auto industry and the main cause for the lack of renovation in the country's transport fleet.
“In a situation where the car manufacturing companies are facing problems for production, [instead of supporting them] the Industry Ministry has threatened private carmakers that if they do not produce, their operating license will be revoked,” the official said.
