WHO urged not to be negligent in providing healthcare to Gaza
TEHRAN – Health Minister Bahram Einollahi has urged the World Health Organization not to be negligent in providing healthcare to people in Gaza and send necessary medical and therapeutic equipment to the region.
Unfortunately, some international organizations are silent in this regard and their silence shows inefficiency, ISNA quoted Einollahi as saying.
The Health Ministry in the Gaza Strip on Saturday warned of the “real danger” to the lives of the wounded and sick people if fuel is not provided to hospitals in the besieged enclave.
Earlier, a 20-truck humanitarian convoy began to enter the Gaza Strip from the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing, the first since the armed conflict broke out between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7.
In a phone call with Ahmed al-Mandhari, the World Health Organization director for the Eastern Mediterranean Region on October 18, Einollahi urged the WHO official to take serious measures to help Palestinians under Israeli attacks.
“In this period of history, it is necessary to make a determination to help the victims in occupied Palestine, and while supporting the oppressed people, we should provide the ground for alleviating their sufferings,” the health minister stressed.
He asked the World Health Organization not to let people's trust in this organization be damaged and that this organization take serious and effective measures to support the wounded in Gaza.
The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) sent the first shipment of humanitarian aid to Gaza on Friday.
Following the brutal large-scale bombing of Gaza by the Zionist regime, the IRCS announced its readiness to send humanitarian aid to Gaza.
In this regard, many efforts have been made and many negotiations are still going on with the heads of the Federations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the Red Crescent Movement.
“Necessary arrangements have been made with the head of the Egyptian Red Crescent to send these aids.
The first shipment of aid includes almost 60 tons of medicine, medical equipment, and basic foodstuffs,” IRIB quoted Pirhossein Kolivand, head of IRCS, as saying.
