TEHRAN PAPERS:

Iran's opposition has become a laughingstock of America and Europe

October 14, 2023 - 23:26

Kayhan analyzed the ridiculous defeat of the opposition and said: The editor of Deutsche Welle expressed his extreme disappointment with the lack of support by the Western governments for anti-Iranian opposition groups and the fact that Western governments were forced to interact with Iran.

Under the pretext of awarding the ‘political’ Nobel Peace Prize to one of the unknown elements of the Iranian opposition, a flood of laudatory messages from Western politicians poured in, which once again revealed the vast distance between politics and civility. Moreover, the exchange of prisoners between the United States and Iran, the release of six billion dollars from the blocked funds of the Islamic Republic on the anniversary of the (woman, life, freedom) movement, and the bombing of the headquarters of the Kurdish parties in the Iraqi Kurdistan region and the agreement with the Iraqi government to disarm them were an unforgettable blow to the opposition movement. To the extent that they found themselves derided as the U.S. Secretary of State said "We did not pay Iran ransom". More ridiculous than this was the senseless, ridiculous and deceitful sanctions after the behind-the-scenes deals when they realized that America, and the Biden administration in particular, were undoubtedly pursuing their national interests in dealing with the Islamic Republic.

Iran: Doha's reaction to the Washington Post reporting

In a commentary, the Iran newspaper addressed the news of the American media claiming the termination of Iran's access to its freed assets and wrote: The agreement between the governors of the Central Bank of Iran and Qatar on the use of freed foreign exchange resources was a nullification of the Western media propaganda against the understanding between Tehran and Washington. Especially, the head of the Central Bank of Qatar emphasized that his country adheres to all its obligations with Iran. A few days ago, some American media, including the Washington Post, claimed that the United States had reached an agreement with Qatar to stop the Islamic Republic's access to the six billion dollars of money released in the prisoner exchange agreement that was transferred to Qatar. Biden's opponents are trying to obstruct Iran's access to its property with the extensive lobbying they have launched. These efforts are made while the recent understanding between Tehran and Washington was accompanied by a guarantee from the American side that withdrawing from the verbal understanding could cause irreparable damages to Washington.

Shargh: No evidence of Iran's involvement in Hamas attack

In the wake of the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel and its subsequent developments, a series of political, diplomatic, and media attacks were directed against Iran. They somehow were intended to link Tehran to the Al-Aqsa Storm Operation. Along with rejecting such media claims and speculations that Iran’s 6 billion dollars has been refrozen in Qatari banks, the more important issue is the confirmation of Iran's official position, which shows that Iran had no role in Hamas's operation against Israel. In addition to the United States, in the latest announcement, Olaf Scholz, the German chancellor, admitted that there is no proof of Iran's direct involvement in the October 7 operation. Of course, the Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly rejected claims of involvement. Hossein Amir Abdollahian also rejected some statements that other countries were behind the event and noted: "It is said that other countries are behind this act of resistance and developments. Yes, we continue our strong spiritual, political, and media support for the resistance, but today the resistance produces missiles, rockets, and drones while it is surrounded inside Gaza.”

Siasat-e-Rooz: Iran's active diplomacy for humanitarian aid to Gaza

In an analysis, Siasat-e-Rooz addressed the regional tour of Iran's foreign minister. It wrote: With the acceleration of developments in West Asia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has started his regional trip for important political and diplomatic consultations to urge Islamic countries to send humanitarian aid to the besieged Gaza, which is being denied water and food amid the extensive fire of the Zionist’s regime attacks. In recent days, Amir Abdollahian has held intensive talks with his counterparts from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries regarding the crimes committed by the Zionist regime against the people of Gaza and helping the Palestinian people. He said the Islamic Republic of Iran has declared its readiness to hold an emergency meeting of OIC foreign ministers in Tehran. In this regard, Iran has made primary arrangements with the secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Not only the “war crimes” against the people of Gaza must be stopped immediately, the situation in Gaza must also return to normality by ending the cutoff of water, electricity, food, and medicine to Gaza.
