TEHRAN - Head of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Majid Chegeni said the cumulative gas supply to the country’s power plants in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-September 22) has increased by 16 percent compared to last year’s same period, registering a new record high.

According to Chegeni, due to the increase in gas supply in the mentioned period, the consumption of liquid fuel in the power plants significantly decreased which resulted in less air pollution, Mehr News Agency reported.

Mentioning NIGC programs for the gas supply in the cold season, the official said: “Most of the major overhauls have been done in different sections and the repairs of all sections will be completed by the end of the current Iranian calendar month (October 22). We hope that with the measures taken in various sectors from production and distribution to transmission, we will successfully pass this winter as well as last year.”
