TEHRAN- At the end of his seven-day trip to New York, Iran's foreign minister says, "We always receive positive messages from the Americans, but we judge based on America's practical behavior."

Amir Abdollahian, who had attended the 78th UN General Assembly meeting in New York, added that he had reviewed the latest status of the sanctions-lifting negotiations in a meeting with his Omani counterpart Badr Al-Busaidi.

“Any plan and initiative that meets the interests of the Iranian nation, respect our red lines, results in the lifting of sanctions, and the return of all parties to their commitment can naturally be in the center of our attention,” stated the Iranian foreign minister.

On exchanging messages during his seven-day visit to New York with various parties, the top diplomat noted that “lifting sanctions through honorable diplomacy” is on the agenda of Iran’s Foreign Ministry.

He also said that he held talks with some top diplomats under the “Sultan of Oman” initiative and the “interests” of Oman’s Foreign Minister, the Secretary General of the United Nations, and some other foreign ministers in this regard.

Amir Abdollahian also referred to the prisoner swap agreement between Tehran and Washington and the release of Iran’s frozen assets in South Korea, calling them “the positive action”.

On the ongoing efforts of the Foreign Ministry to lift sanctions through diplomacy and negotiations, Amir Abdollahian pointed to the talks with former American officials, politicians, and think tanks over lifting sanctions and the return of all parties to their commitments.

Elsewhere, the minister added that he and his Omani counterpart had reviewed the latest status of the tattered nuclear deal together.

“Any plan and initiative that serves the interests of the Iranian nation respects the red lines, and results in lifting sanctions and the commitment of all parties can naturally be at the center of our attention,” said Amir Abdollahian, pointing to Iran’s idea about the Sultan of Oman initiative.
“If the other parties and the Americans have the strong will within the framework of the previous negotiations we can consider the availability of agreement,” noted the foreign minister, pointing to the negotiations in Vienna and the prepared draft.

The foreign minister said that Iran would continue its diplomatic efforts to reach a good and stable agreement, meanwhile, the country would not tolerate the United States’ hypocritical behavior.

The minister went on to say that it is not necessary that everything happen through the JCOPA channel.

“We always receive positive messages from the Americans, but in my meetings in New York, I clearly emphasized that we will judge based on America's practical behavior,” stressed the foreign minister.

The “Sultan of Oman” initiative would accelerate and help all parties return to their commitments in the JCPOA. According to the Iranian top diplomat.

Iran, Egypt agree to take joint steps in the future

Regarding Tehran-Cairo relations, Amir Abdollahian pointed out that he held useful discussions with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry in New York and both sides discussed bilateral relations and exchanged views on some regional and international issues.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran considers Egypt a very important country in the Islamic world and in the region,” said Iran’s foreign minister.

“Cementing Tehran-Cairo ties will not only benefit two countries and two nations but also benefit the region and the Islamic world," said Amir-Abdollahian, citing Tehran's readiness to bolster bilateral ties.
