TEHRAN PAPERS:

England legalizes sanctions against Iran

September 17, 2023 - 22:46

In a note, Shargh addressed the recent action of England against Iran. It wrote: An official at the British Foreign Office, making remarks about Iran's adherence to the JCPOA, said that Britain, in coordination with Germany and France, will turn missile and drone sanctions against Iran, that are set to expire (in October), into law.

This remark was made while the Islamic Republic of Iran took compensatory steps in accordance with paragraphs 26 and 36 of the JCPOA in response to the U.S. illegal withdrawal from the nuclear accord. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran considered the decision of the European Union and the three European countries (E3) not to fulfill their obligations by the eighth year of the JCPOA as " illegal and contrary to their obligations under the JCPOA and Resolution 2231." There is no doubt that the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond appropriately to this “illegal” and “provocative” act of the European Union, France, Germany and the UK.

Iran: Authority of the released money is with Iran

In a commentary, the pro-government Iran newspaper addressed the assets of the Islamic Republic in South Korea that are set to be released soon. It said: America has taken steps to fulfill its obligations in freeing Iranian resources in South Korea. According to the American news agency, the Associated Press, the Biden government has issued a sanction exemption for the transfer of 6 billion dollars from Iran's blocked assets in South Korea to Qatar. This sanctions exemption means that banks in Europe, West Asia and Asia will not face U.S. sanctions for transferring Iran's blocked assets from South Korea to the Central Bank of Qatar. Some American media claim that Iran's freed assets from South Korea will be spent on purchasing food or medicine. Although these claims are made in order to preserve America's image, Iranian officials have repeatedly emphasized that they have full authority to spend this money and will spend it based on national interests and the discretion of the government. In an exclusive interview with NBC News, Raisi said: The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran will decide how to spend 6 billion dollars of the money released by South Korea.

Hamshahri: Iran's warning letter to the Security Council

In an explanation, Hamshahri discussed the hostile statements of the head of the spy agency of the Israeli regime regarding the neutralization of 27 Iranian attacks against Jews and Israelis abroad. The newspaper quoted Saeed Iravani, the ambassador and permanent representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, who has said: "It is obvious that such baseless claims primarily serve to divert attention from the hostile and malevolent policies pursued by this occupying and apartheid regime in the region, especially the regime's ongoing daily crimes against the Palestinian people. The Islamic Republic of Iran, while warning against the adventurism and destructive activities of the Israeli regime, which is designed to destabilize peace and security in the region, emphasizes seriously its legitimate rights, in accordance with international laws and the United Nations Charter, to respond decisively to any threats and illegal actions of the Israeli regime. Israeli regime officials continue to openly threaten Iran and Iranian officials with military force and terrorist attacks, the most recent of which is a provocative and warmongering statement by Mossad chief David Barnea.

Siasat-e-Rooz: Negotiation based on red lines

In an analysis, Siasat-e-Rooz addressed the negotiations to lift sanctions based on the September document. The paper said: The foreign minister has said Iran will not restrict itself to the September document of 2022 regarding the nuclear talks and, while observing the red lines, will work seriously to neutralize the sanctions. The policy of the 13th government is to deepen regional cooperation and expand relations with neighbors. Also, regarding the Ukraine war, the minister of foreign affairs once again emphasized the logical policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in opposing the war and destruction of infrastructure, the need to respect the territorial integrity of all countries, paying attention to NATO's actions in triggering and continuing the Ukraine war, and the efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran to broker peace among the warring parties. Until this moment, no document has been presented by the Ukrainian authorities about the use of Iranian weapons in the war, and what is being said is only Western media propaganda with political goals against the country.
